A GANG OF TEN

This gripping political novel aimed at young readers was written during World War II, intended as a call to action for opponents of Hitler and the Nazis around the world.

The original manuscript is written in English.

translated by: Elga Abramowitz

It’s spring 1942, and the Californian town of El Peso is the scene of strange goings on. The war is raging far away in Europe and the Pacific. Meanwhile, the “New World” is founded, a school for Rombout, Björn, Chuchu, Nelson, Ivan, Betsy and the others, a “country” for children where they organise and decide everything. The “United Children” from the “United Nations” are happy to be here. They tell each other about their experiences, where their parents are, why
they had to leave their homes behind and flee the war. Now they finally feel safe. But appearances can be deceptive:

A secretive Mr X is bringing terror into their midst, here in America. The “gang” picks up his trail and a frantic race against the clock begins.
