17-year-old Kester has just passed his final school exams: as the youngest and best student of his year. While the other final year students are celebrating the end of their school days during a trip to the seaside, he plans to take his own life over the course of the weekend. Before that, however, he wants to try out everything. Drugs, dancing, sex – experiencing total intoxication, total freedom. But during the evening, he meets various “characters of the night”, gets to know their worries and hardships, wishes and dreams, and falls in love. One of the people Kester meets, Bruno, follows Kester through the this night, and watches over him. Bruno is a young, cultivated man who looks like he could be owning an art gallery – but claims to be an angel. And finally Kester’s classmate Blanka, whose life is on the brink for a completely different reason, meets up with him.

In a non-linear narrative, award – winning author Nils Mohl tells a profound and hopeful coming-of-age story.
