Ten-year-old Kaya does not know that she is an Avanost until an old lady turns up one day, puts a beautiful medallion around her neck, and Kaya suddenly transforms into a bird. An ancient magic lies within Kaya that allows her, with the help of the necklace, to change between the human form and that of a bird. From that moment on, Kaya’s life is thrown into turmoil. She has to learn what it means to be an Avanost, and on top of that she learns that the future of the Avanosts is in danger. Their leader Xaver Goldeneagle pursues evil plans and already possesses one important element that brings him closer to fulfilling them.
