Twelve-year-old Johnny has a big mouth and is always in trouble. When Amin, a boy from his class, suddenly disappears, it’s his chance to prove that he’s the worthy leader of his schoolyard gang. Without thinking twice, he promises to solve the case. But then he finds Amin’s diary in the school bathroom and realises that Amin’s life is entirely different from his own: Amin lives in a refugee accommodation and, following a lie told by a classmate, has now set off in search of his parents. He is in great danger and Johnny is probably the only one who can help him …
An impressive debut and a touching story about a friendship that transcends inner and outer boundaries.
