A mysterious white panther is roaming the country. Whoever sees it will soon look death in the face. The panther also has a terrible effect on the inhabitants of the village of the young, rebellious sword fighter Alena. When her father falls seriously ill, Alena has no other choice: she has to find out what this demon is all about. Together with the mediator Rena, the seeker Tjeri, and the polecat person Chraskar, she sets out on a journey to Ekaterin, the City of Colours. There, she draws the attention of the dangerous healer of the hill, and she meets Jorak, who lives as an outsider, unattached to any of the Guilds. Alena learns that she has to fight – for her father’s life, for her future, and for the boy she loves.
