Katharina Hacker , born 1967 in Frankfurt, studied philosophy, history, and Jewish studies in Freiburg and Jerusalem. She published several celebrated novels, poetry and a story collection, earning her a reputation as one of the most discerning and elegant stylists in contemporary German literature. Her novel " Die Habenichtse " (" The Have-Nots ") was awarded with the German Book Prize. She lives in Berlin as a writer.
