This collection of previously unpublished texts reflects a period of German history about which few authors can write for a young audience as plausible as Gudrun Pausewang. As a witness to Hitler’s regime she tells without lecturing. These are very personal, honest observations and stories which have been engraved on her mind.
Gudrun Pausewang (1928-2020) was one of the most important authors of children and Youth literature in the German Language. She has been honoured with, among other prizes, the Gustav-Heinemann-Peace-Prize and the German Youth Literature Prize.
